DRAFTING W/ CAILIN RUSSO
If you were among the millions of viewers salivating over Heated Rivalry’s now-iconic “drive to the cottage” scene, you were also hearing Cailin Russo soundtrack the HBO hit’s climactic moment.
Her song “Bad Things” plays beneath the tension — and has since skyrocketed in streams — arriving this week with a new music video. “I wanna do bad things with you,” Russo purrs, before taunting a lover on the chorus: “Matter of fact, I caught you lookin’ back, so let’s go.”
For DRAFTING, Russo opens the door to her life past and present, sharing early edits of unreleased projects, demos and snapshots of life working retail before her artist career took off.
I think the fur was just a bit too much.
This was a commissioned piece of art by Jamie Adams. It was supposed to be for my first EP soul food that never came out — circa 2016, I believe. I had him add a pair of underwear and Marlboro lights, that was definitely my early 20s. So romantic.
I would like to wake up at 8, but my routine is to snooze my 9 AM alarm until 10. The 12 PM alarm was because I had a hectic morning and went back to sleep. I snooze for an hour then go get a coffee around the corner, write for five minutes then work out. I also find it helpful to have a little good morning love note to yourself. I try to not check social media until I've read, written or done something calming for my mind.
Naturally. I have such insane buying anxiety. I will wait as long as I can before buying anything. I would really love to break that habit and invest in my swag.
I'm really into healing my body, so I just got a bunch of Veladya Organica tinctures to bring more ease into my day-to-day life. The Balance Bac is full of pau d’arco, which heals UTI’s and other inflammatory infections.
This was my retail job era. I worked at What Goes Around Comes Around for 14 months before I could support myself with my art.
I love the Chanel ankle monitor. This was from a dress up session we had at one of my favorite luxury vintage spots, Wild West Social House.
