Genesis Webb is behind some of pop culture’s biggest fashion moments this year. The celebrated stylist and creative director, who works closely with Chappell Roan, has built a visual language where costume becomes character and fashion becomes storytelling.
Whether it’s dripping the “Good Luck, Babe!” singer in archive Jean Paul Gaultier couture or transforming her into a playful private investigator, Webb’s perspective is expansive and world-building — much of it informed by vintage, both in research and in practice.
Closing out 2025, DRAFTING partnered with eBay to take a closer look at Webb’s personal style and shopping habits. It’s out with the new and in with the old, tracing how pre-loved shapes not just the work, but the wardrobe of one of today’s most influential figures in fashion.
I bought this celtic leather corset in January 2020. It really is unclear how old it is and potentially I have t-shirts older, but the essence is older so we’re running with it. I actually lowballed the hell out of the seller for this because I had no money at the time, but I felt an unbelievable need for this. I messaged apologizing for the lowball. and explained that it was all I had and how much I loved the piece. She very generously accepted my offer.
The color of this bag is so amazing. It’s a neon stomach bile color and weighs as much as the arm I carry it with. It’s too beautiful to not see the sunshine, so I will probably list it on eBay. I know it will go to a good home for someone who loved it like me.
I got this robe from eBay when my ex-boyfriend and I broke up the first time. I moved out of his apartment and into my own little horrific studio. As long as I never looked at the Citizen app I could sleep, but I was so torn up about breaking up that all I could do was watch Gilmore Girls all day. I needed their voices in the background 24/7 regardless of what I was doing. I wanted something silk to sit in for my own year of rest and relaxation, so I bought this robe. I still have it.
I follow this girl on TikTok that makes me seethe of jealousy for her homeware thrift finds and she posted a video of this MCM candle holder that she turned into a jewelry tray. She actually mentioned that you could search the term and it would come up on eBay, so I immediately bought it.
I need to release myself from TikTok and that one girl specifically that talks about glamour magic. God, whatever. I bought it.
I’ve had these Fluevog boots since 2018. I bought them from eBay because Fluevog stopped making them. They are a size too small for me, but I’ve ripped out the insoles and am walking on wood. Walking on wood for seven years has not been beneficial for my back, but I’d rather die than let them go.
These are Chloe wedge sneakers and I’ve had them for a long time. I was in the mall and overheard a teenage girl begging her mom for the Isabel Marant wedge sneakers. I was astounded.
This vintage Chloe by Phoebe Philo bag is basically the only purse I’ve ever wanted in my life. Thank you, eBay.
Nicholas Ghesquière Balenciaga heels, my favorite era of heels. Please, make more heels at Louis Vuitton, please. Just a minutely higher heel, I am begging you, five inches. The Casualties was my first concert I ever went to, I was 14. I really should just buy this for myself.
Depends on the city I am in. Los Angeles doesn’t excite me to get dressed, so I wear leather a lot. If I could wear anything I would be dressed like the Bene Gesserit. My closet does have all of that, but I think I need to reach 35 to fully form.
I’d love this Junya Watanabe set with a Junya Watanabe jacket. The dark olive Yohji Yamamoto messenger bag and Ann Demeulemeester green boots would really tie it together. I’ve been wearing these army socks lately. I got them at a costume house liquidation and they really are the best, so I would buy more.
