DRAFTING W/ TOMMY DORFMAN
Tommy Dorfman cannot be contained by a single medium, and this year has made that unmistakably clear. An actress, writer, director and producer, Dorfman channels her experiences as a trans woman into work that is refreshingly honest and rooted in lived experience.
After rising to prominence in 13 Reasons Why, Dorfman appeared onstage with standout turns in Romeo + Juliet and Becoming Eve. She then stepped away from character work to share her own story in Maybe This Will Save Me, her deeply personal debut memoir about addiction, recovery and adulthood.
Her range widened again with I Wish You All the Best, the 2025 feature film she wrote, directed and produced. Released in theaters earlier this month, it follows the tender coming-of-age journey of a nonbinary high schooler navigating identity, family and connection.
Like many before her, Dorfman requires stacked alarms to finally get up in the morning. She also hates waiting for tables (allegedly), wears Salomon sneakers (a New Yorker staple) and has taken more than 20,000 selfies (who hasn’t?). All this and more she reveals for DRAFTING.
